ECWRPC GIS Data Distribution Policy
- A $200.00 fee will be charged for each data file requested by a non-government agency, individual or non-participating member. This
price covers the transferring of the files to disk, the cost of the disk, and any time constraints associated with pulling the data from
the archive.
- The files will be transferred "as is" without reprojection, reformatting or subset selection. Files will be transferred in either
ARC/INFO, Shapefile, or Geodatabase format. Files will be transferred on a timely basis depending on the size of the request and the
current Commission staff workload. A time estimate will be prepared prior to data processing.
- Any processing or creation of files prior to transferring will require a $50.00 per hour processing charge. An estimate of charges
will be prepared prior to processing.
- Hard copy output will be charged at the rate of $5.00 per square foot for custom map compositions. A $50.00 per hour processing fee
will be charged for custom map productions requiring over one hour of staff time.
- Requests for data must be received in written form which details the primary use of the data. Data will be distributed for the
purchaser's internal use only, not for resale or trade.
- The $200.00 fee for data and the $5.00 per square foot fee for maps will be waived for consultants working for a local unit of
government which is represented by the Commission upon written request from the unit of government. This data will be distributed on a
project specific basis. Use of the data beyond the specified project will require an additional data request.
- The Commission will not be liable for the accuracy of data or for its misuse or modification. Furthermore, the Commission will not
be liable for any loss or consequential damages resulting from the use of this data nor does it warrant it suitable for any purposes.
- Data sets which have a regulatory function (such as digital wetlands or flood related files) or files representing work in progress
(such as unapproved zoning or preliminary land use files) will not be distributed.
- The Commission requests credit for data on products which rely significantly on its use.
- Some Commission GIS data relies significantly on data obtained from other sources. This data will not be distributed without the
written permission of the originating unit of government or consultant source.
