Regional Comprehensive Plan (Smart
Growth Plan):
The goal is to prepare a regional comprehensive plan for East Central
Wisconsin that determines a comprehensive vision for the development of
the region over the next 20 years: taking into account the economy, the
environment and the community. The focus of the plan will be on
providing strategic policy guidance to make that vision a reality. It is
anticipated that a plan consistent with the State’s “Smart Growth”
legislation will be adopted by the end of the year 2005.
Local Comprehensive Plans:
East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission is currently
assisting several communities in the development of their comprehensive
plans. These plans are intended to aid local officials in making land
use decisions that are harmonious with the community’s overall vision
for the future. For more information on a specific plan please click on

Clearinghouse Review:
East Central Planning conducts reviews a wide variety of state and
local projects in compliance with Executive Order 12372 which regulates
federal project review and intergovernmental coordination.
Sanitary sewer extensions and sanitary sewer laterals account for a
significant portion of projects reviewed. Other reviews include
Environmental Impact Assessments and Statements, Plat Review and
projects concerned with Economic Development, Social Planning and
Transportation.
Intergovernmental Cooperation:
The goal is to promote intergovernmental cooperation and to establish
mechanisms that will facilitate interaction between, and within,
different levels of government to create synergy.
Staff participate in joint planning efforts to maintain and strengthen
liaison with local planning agencies within the region: county, city,
villages and towns. Staff efforts focus on establishing open and
clear lines of communication with appropriate governmental bodies,
committees, agencies and their staff personnel. They place an emphasis
on ensuring that ECWRPC is represented on inter and intra governmental
committee meetings.
